ProgramsThe schedule is structured in a bi-weekly rotation with visual artsand a technology component that meets daily. This means that every student is taking at least one if not two visual arts classes daily in addition to a trimester of Music and Drama. The visual arts course builds a foundation in a variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. These classes are critical in helping to develop fine motor skills as well as spatial perception. Both classes being heavily project based also provide an opportunity to practice planning and sequencing. Additionally, art work is exhibited around the campus and locally throughout the year as well as being published in the school journal “ Determination Rock.” In December the boys participate in an all school production of the Christmas Carol and have an opportunity to perform before an audience. Skills acquired in the music and drama class are complemented, if desired, by private music lessons of piano, guitar, and drums. Creative writing is integrated throughout the year in the language development program. In January, the faculty concentrates on a poetry unit that cumulates in a poetry recitation and an exhibit of visual interpretations. Student pieces have been published in the school journal “Determination Rock” as well as in national magazines of young writers such as “A Celebration of Young Poets.” Goals
