The “Spellologists,” 1st year student Sam Calle, along with LT teachers Julia Lignori and Walter Sanieski, spelled their way to a very respectable 4th place in the 4th Annual Mary Lyons Spelling Bee.

The competition included 30 teams each consisting of three participants. The teams were divided into five groups of six teams in an initial spell off with the winners moving on to the final round. With welcomed moral and vocal support from the Linden Hill student body in the audience, the Linden Hill team were the winners of the second round with correct spellings of hypocrisy, gargantuan, zoological, neophiliac, plagiarism and heinous. The final round pitted the winners of the previous five rounds. After correctly spelling crustacean, myrrh and trousseau the team was finally done in by the word laparoscopy. Congratulations!
