Celebrating the 50th Prize Day!

The End of Year Ceremonies started with the largest parent turnout seen in many years for what would prove to be a very exciting albeit swealtering field day! The boys persevered as they always do making the events and the all campus road race truly something to watch!

It was after field day as boys showered and changed and parents visited at a reception at the Headmaster's House that the storm hit. But as usual Linden Hill's DETERMINATION won out!

Torrential rains, thunder and lightening and a few gusty winds threatened to put a damper on the festivities by knocking power out. Everyone rallied to find candles, move all the food for the evening banquet to gas ovens on campus, and set up generators that could support some light in the kitchen and dining room. This excitement only heightened the experience and families enjoyed the cozy moments it offered as a community. Miraculously just as the musical presentations for the evening were about to begin the power came back on for Evening of Recognition. Awards in sports, academics, and community, presentations and the annual slideshow filled the evening and served to highlight an amazing year following the theme of "Discovery".

With the storm and evening excitement behind them the boys set about the business of Prize Day.  Assistant Headmaster, Walter Sanieski, has been through many Prize Days, thirty-one to be exact.  However, this year would be different.  Commemorating the 50th Prize Day it was only fitting that the school's most tenured teacher would deliver the Prize Day address. Mr. Sanieski spoke of his own school years, his triumphs and failures even as an adult and reiterated to the boys how important it is in life to be present, be on time, be where you are supposed to be and do your best at it, just as he has done for 31 years. The annual presentation of book awards to each student followed, leaving not a dry eye in the room. Six boys graduated from Linden Hill during the ceremony and are moving on: Thor Brantly-Boutin to Darrow School, Sam Calle to EagleHill, Duncan Egberts to Oxford Academy, Cooper Halabi returning to school in France, Radha Shukla to Tallulah Falls School andBlaine Stanclift to RESC Academy.

We wish them much success in their new journey!
