This week it was the turn of our older boys to compete in the annual Greenwood Tournament. This tournament is a highlight each year and once which the boys work hard for. After the first day of play they were seeded 3rd with a record of 2-1-1. Their only defeat at the hands of Hilltop School. They were playing well.

Day Two started with a game against Hilltop who was seeded 2nd! The boys played with amazing communication and skill. The offense applied pressure throughout the game and Hilltop's goalie kept them in it, allowing only 2 goals. The Linden Hill defense was solid allowing only 1 goal and continued clearing the ball, the midfield fed the offense throughout the game. It was an amazingly well played game which resulted in Linden Hill going to the finals!

The final game was a battle against Greenwood.  Both teams played with determination, skill, and good character! These were two well matched teams giving everything they could. At the end of regular play the score was still 0-0! Into a five minute overtime of 6 on 6 with no goalie both teams rallied! Then the next group of 6 on 6 left it all on the field. Finally, in the third overtime Greenwood scored the heartbreaking game winner. The Linden Hill reaction was one of good sportsmanship, a few tears and a lot of pride as the boys received their 2nd place trophy. It was wonderful to see both teams, Linden Hill and Greenwood, sit together and receive applause for their efforts and hardwork and to acknowledge each other. It was the end to another wonderful season of soccer on the hill!
