This week, Linden Hill honored Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as the great African-American clergyman, orator and leader of the civil rights movement. The community discussed King's life long work for freedom and social justice for all Americans through nonviolence and civil disobedience, as well as the origins of the national holiday. In addition to screening original clips from the famous August 28th, 1963 speech of "I had a Dream," the school also played a powerful rendition from a former student on poetry night. In a special assembly, students watched a portion of the award winning documentary "Eyes on the Prize," which focused on the struggle to de-segregate schools in the south. Afterward, several faculty members also shared their own childhood experiences and perspectives. In history class the following day, Mr. Loud and Mrs. Darling discussed in smaller groups the educational reforms in the civil rights movement and its relevance today. On Wednesday, nationally recognized storyteller Mokoto treated the boys to traditional Japanese poetry and a performance of folktales about empathy. In Friday's social pragmatics course, students will discuss the importance of fighting racism and all forms of discriminations as well as learning about the universal value of compassion.
Holidays Are Upon Us!
Even though the boys just returned from the Thanksgiving Break, the campus is already abuzz with excitement surrounding the coming holidays. Students are practicing each morning for the annual production of " A Christmas Carol". Each boy has a role to play and faculty are working with students on line memorization and delivery. This curricular event is a community favorite. With the campus decorated both inside and out the boys are in the spirit. In the coming weeks there is a full calendar of events. The boys will be shopping for each other with their advisors, caroling at the local nursing home, making ornaments for the school tree, baking cookies, decorating gingerbread men and learning a bit more about all the holidays occurring during this festive wintertime.
From everyone at LHS-Happy Holidays!
Linden Hill Lynx Win Greenwood Tournament!
As always the Greenwood Tournament presented itself as the highlight of the soccer season. The boys waited anxiously all week wondering if the remnants of the previous week’s storm would prevent this opportunity. Fortunately the games were on! A strong breeze and sunshine provided the backdrop to the weekend’s events. Linden Hill had an impressive showing the first day of play going into the following day’s playoffs seeded first and undefeated.
The winter storm surprised New England this past Saturday afternoon as snow came heavily falling down at a steady rate of three inches per hour. In no time, the campus was covered in almost two feet of gleaming white powder transforming the grounds into a majestic winter wonderland.
Linden Hill Celebrates Parents Weekend with Nelson Lauver
The rain didn't dampen spirits as families came together to visit with their children and one another. Meetings with teachers, soccer displays in the John Hunt Gymnasium, and fellowship with other families was the order of the day. The evening activity centered around Nelson Lauver, the American Storyteller, who shared with the audience his adult diagnosis as a dyslexic. Mr. Lauver had spent the day in a workshop with the LHS boys so the boys were able to participate in Mr. Lauver's message to the audience.

Small boarding schools provide a nurturing and supportive growing-up environment that families of younger students generally look for in their search process. However, there are challenges to size and one that Linden Hill is often faced with is the ability to offer expanded curriculum's both in and out of school, that a larger school generally can offer.
Linden Hill recently visited Bermuda to attend the Schools to Know Fair hosted annually by educational consultant, Tory Dodge. This fair is for junior boarding schools as well as schools who focus on serving students with learning disabilities.
On September 26th, with beautiful fall weather on our lovely New England campus as the backdrop, Linden Hill hosted 16 educational consultants participating in the annual Fall LD Tour.
