If a boy can’t learn then we change how we teach. Orton-Gillingham offers each student the opportunity to grow and learn in a respectful way. I too struggled with the reading as a young child, due to eye problems, not dyslexia, but I can relate to the similar feelings of the boys-- low self-esteem and not matching up to the abilities of peers and siblings. For some of us, learning to read takes an enormous amount of energy, but we succeed and with it comes a heap of pride.
